‘Summer House’ Stars Support Paige DeSorbo Amid Craig Conover Split

Amanda Batula and Kyle Cooke spoke out about Craig Conover and Paige DeSorbo’s recent breakup after three years of dating.

In an interview with Us Weekly, the “Summer House” stars admitted they weren’t completely surprised by the breakup because DeSorbo had confided to them about challenges she experienced in the relationship.

Batula told the outlet that ongoing speculation that DeSorbo cheated on the “Southern Charm” star was unfair. “I think it’s a little ridiculous,” she said. “I think what [Craig] should have done was clear up the cheating rumors in some regards because she’s really getting a lot of hate and a lot of hate for that.”

On December 30, DeSorbo announced her breakup from Conover on her “Giggly Squad” podcast. “Craig and I have decided to no longer be together,” she shared. “I love him, I think he loves me. I think we will remain friends.” DeSorbo also clarified that “no one did anything” wrong and that the breakup “wasn’t a bad thing.”

Conover did not immediately speak out about the breakup. But rumors quickly began circulating that Desorbo allegedly cheated on her longtime beau with “Saturday Night Live” actor Marcello Hernandez. 

On the January 7 episode of “Giggly Squad,” DeSorbo addressed the chatter. “I don’t care about any rumor that is, like, ever said about me,” she said. “The only thing that I was like, ‘OK, can’t, like, let this go by’ was because it was a third party involved, was people saying that I cheated on Craig with Marcello.”

While she initially laughed off the rumor, she added that it felt “weird” because she wasn’t sure if Hernandez had a girlfriend. “He was sending me screenshots of DMs he was getting from people like, ‘Yeah, we [expletive] hate you now, like you’re the reason,'” DeSorbo said. “And I was like, ‘Marcello, I’m so [expletive] sorry. This is so embarrassing.’ And no one involved was defending me, which I found interesting.”

DeSorbo’s co-star Batula told Page Six’s “Virtual Reali-Tea” that Conover’s silence on the cheating rumors was unacceptable. “To not clear up any of the cheating rumors is insanity,” she said. “That was still your girlfriend of three years. Like, stand up for her a little bit. He’s been silent.” 

As of this writing, Conover has stopped following Cooke and Batula on Instagram.

Craig Conover Said He Was Shocked By the Breakup

Conover waited a full week after DeSorbo’s announcement to address the split at all. In a video posted to his Instagram story on January 7, the Sewing Down South founder claimed he was “very shocked” by the end of his relationship with DeSorbo.

“This has all been very, very unexpected to say the least,” he said. “Right before the holidays, I was very shocked, and it’s OK,” he added. “It takes two people to be in a relationship, and I can’t control other people, you can only control how you react to it.”

Conover also thanked fans for all of their support and urged everyone to “be kind” to both him and DeSorbo.
