For many years now, “Big Brother” fans have debated what makes an all-star player so great. Should a list of these players only include the winners? Maybe it should be only the fan favorites? Or how about just the strategic masterminds full of intellectual prowess?
The ultimate question is: what about the ones who never got the chance to prove themselves? Imagine an all-star season made up entirely of early evictees. I’m talking about the players who got kicked out by their housemates before they could show their full potential. This isn’t just an entertaining idea; it’s the shake-up the “Big Brother” game desperately needs.
Why The Early Evictees Deserve a Second Shot
It seems like every season the strong competitors get sent packing way too soon. Perhaps it is because they were too likable, too threatening, or just the victim of a bad twist that shook up the game. Whatever the case may be, some of those players became legends after being given a second chance in the “Big Brother” house. So why not give an entire cast of early evictees that same opportunity?
The Strategy Would Be Unlike Anything We’ve Seen
Take a moment and think about what a house full of players who never had a chance to really compete would be like. These people never really formed alliances or built trust in their original games, so how would they do if given the chance? Sounds to me like a recipe for chaos.
Doing something different than the typical all-star seasons “Big Brother” seems to favor, could bring in new viewers as well. Usually in these seasons, the veteran players who return to the game stick to familiarity, but these contestants would be starting out with only one preconceived notion: that they already lost at least once.
Would a leader emerge early on? Would alliances form and break as quickly as they did in Season 16 with the epic “Detonators?” How many players would disintegrate under the strain of real gameplay? Seeing a season like this, full of unknowns, could give fans the show’s most dubious season ever.
Who Could Be in the Cast?
Essential to this kind of “Big Brother” season would be making sure there was a mixture of player types, with both more traditional and progressive contestants, to give the game enough of a chance. The following people could be great choices for a season like this:
- Having appeared in both BB21 and BB22, David Alexander never got to really play, and giving him a chance to finally prove himself could prove epic.
- Hopefully able to learn from his mistakes, Brian Hart, who thought he was running the game in BB10 and then got booted right out the door first, would make an excellent choice.
- Of the players who deserve a real shot at the prize money is BB14 contestant, Jodi Rollins, who barely stepped foot in the house before being evicted.
- Known for trying to start an all-female alliance in BB16, Joey Van Pelt, who got eliminated first, needs the opportunity to make it work.
- More than needing a chance to play the game, a friendship bracelet twist led to Cameron Heard getting evicted on Day 1 of his BB19 season.
Would CBS Actually Do It?
Having experimented with many different show formats before like Battle of the Block, Pandora’s Box, and most recently Big Brother AI (I’m looking at you, Janky), this idea pulls together all the things CBS loves to have in their reality television shows; a spectacle full of nostalgia as well as an updated perspective on a tried and true system.
If the network wants to put out a season that doesn’t change the core aspects of the “Big Brother” game, but still feels different and fresh; this is the way to do it. Full of second chances, monumental strategy, and an air of unpredictability, a season full of early evictees wouldn’t just be fun, it would be a masterpiece.
So, CBS, what are you waiting for? Let’s give these players the redemption arc they (and we) deserve.
