Kelly Clarkson has been absent from “The Kelly Clarkson Show” and, although some great guest hosts have filled in, fans are concerned. Find out who has covered the hosting duties while the “American Idol” winner takes a break from her show.
Guest Hosts Fill in While Kelly Clarkson Is Gone
Clarkson first missed a March 3 taping of her show, but actor Simu Liu, who was scheduled to be a guest, stepped in to host. “Kelly isn’t able to make it today. We’re sending her our very best,” Liu said.
He added, “I did not know that I was doing this until about five minutes ago when I arrived to promote my new movie ‘Last Breath’ … I’m here now, and look, I’m not one to back down from a challenge.”
Clarkson returned on March 4, though she didn’t explain the previous absence. On March 5, the host was absent from taping again.
While she was away, some heavy hitters stepped in to keep the show running. Comedian Roy Wood Jr. hosted on March 6. “Kelly’s out for the day,” he explained. “I’m back (he was a guest host on February 28). You’re in good hands. I was here about a week ago, I think they brought me back because of my resemblance to Kelly. You need to squint to see it, though.”
On the March 7 episode, actress Wanda Sykes and singer Josh Groban served as co-hosts. Sykes noted, “It’s good to be here at Kelly’s show. She asked if I could co-host, and I said, ‘Absolutely, Kelly. There’s nothing I’d rather be doing on my birthday than daytime TV.”
On March 10 and March 11, Brooke Shields hosted “The Kelly Clarkson Show.” She noted it was “so nice” to fill in for Clarkson.
Rounding out the week, “Today” show’s Willie Geist served as guest host on March 12 and actress Molly Sims hosts March 13 and 14. Geist told the audience, “Welcome to ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show.’ I am very much not Kelly Clarkson and I’m sorry for that.”
Kelly Clarkson Hasn’t Explained Her Absence & Fans Are Concerned
Clarkson has not yet released a statement to address why she’s been absent from “The Kelly Clarkson Show.”
Fans have shared their concern about the daytime host taking time off. On a March 9 “The Kelly Clarkson Show” Instagram post, fans flooded the comments to ask where she’s been.
“We love Kelly and respect her privacy but y’all definitely need to put out some sort of statement because this is worrisome,” one person wrote.
Another fan commented, “I respect Kelly Clarkson’s privacy, but I am very concerned about her.”
Many people weighed in to say that fans should respect the singer’s privacy. “Kelly has always been very private or at least has tried to be,” one person wrote. “Let’s continue to give her privacy and maybe she’ll let us know upon her return. Also, remember these shows are pre-recorded days or weeks before.”
On an Instagram post featuring Brooke Shields as a guest host, one fan shared their appreciation. “Congratulations on everyone who co-hosted the Kelly Clarkson show … you guys did amazing, please keep up the good work,” they noted.
