Artis ‘Melted’ in His Seat
Artis performed James Taylor’s song “Fire and Rain” during the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame theme week on season 23 of “American Idol.” Taylor was the mentor. MSN reported that after Artis’ performance, he said, “I was melting in my seat. I was nervous as heck but I wasn’t showing it on the outside.”
On the show, Taylor told Artis that he “did a version of that that I haven’t heard [before]. Really unique.”
In another clip from the show, Taylor told host Ryan Seacrest that he really relates to Artis. He explained, “I see him as sort of a version of me. The emotional connection that he has with music it’s a special thing.”
