Fans React as Ryan Seacrest Prepares Meals in His Bathroom: ‘Didn’t Say It Tastes Good’

While Ryan Seacrest films “American Idol” in Hawaii, he’s clearly missing the comforts of home. On February 12, 2025, the show’s longtime host revealed via Instagram that without a kitchen, he’s resorted to preparing healthy meals in his hotel bathroom.

Seacrest shared a photo of his lunch — a piece of grilled salmon, mixed vegetables and kale — and then added a selfie video taken in his bathroom, sharing “step one” of his food preparation.

Seacrest captioned the post by writing, “I may have gotten too carried away to show you step 2, 3, and 4 but… Picked up some fresh kale, fired up the air fryer—lunch is served! Who says you can’t eat healthy on the go? (But I didn’t say it tastes good)”

Many fans encouraged the “Wheel of Fortune” host to ditch the bathroom and find healthy take-out at the Disney Aulani Resort & Spa where “Idol” has been filming. But others celebrated his ingenuity and so-called “Creative Cuisine.”

Ryan Seacrest Shares ‘Handy Little Secrets’ for Travelers Including Making Tea in the Bathroom

In his post, Seacrest shared a photo of his lunch alongside a printed rundown for filming “American Idol” that day. Though season 23 doesn’t premiere until March 9, taping has been happening for several months. Judges Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie, and Carrie Underwood whittled them down to the top 24, according to Island News, who all performed for a live audience at Aulani on February 11 and 12.

In the second slide of Seacrest’s post, he shared a selfie video he took in his hotel bathroom of how he was preparing a “healthy lunch.” He filmed several leaves of kale, which he washed in the sink, were drying on a hand towel and a plugged-in tea kettle was sitting nearby.

“Some handy little secrets from being on the road,” Seacrest said as he adjusted his baseball cap in the mirror. “Kind of have to make do with what you have. So I went to the store, got some kale, washed it here in the sink.”

Many fans celebrated Seacrest’s clever cooking tricks, including one who wrote, “so adorable, and practical❤️🔥❤️🔥” and another who commented, “Looks pretty tasty to me!”

But others weren’t so sure, with one flatly deeming his bathroom-turned-kitchen “gross” and several questioning how much he packed, like someone who asked, “You have an air fryer ‘on the go’?”

“Salmon looks a little overcooked,” another person wrote. “But good for you.”

Ryan Seacrest is in Hawaii Filming ‘Idol’ With Cast & Guest Mentors

Seacrest is with his fellow cast members at Disney’s Aulani, where “American Idol” narrows down the competition to help determine which contestants will move on to the live shows. Many crew members, background musicians and concert attendees have posted slight glimpses of the scenic views and giant “Idol” stage in recent days.

In addition to the judges, the show’s new guest mentors — Ashanti and Josh Groban — have been on hand to offer guidance to the contestants. One attendee also posted a Facebook video taken from a distance of Ashanti performing for the crowd, decked out head-to-toe in gold.

The “American Idol” social media account also posted a photo of Groban laughing with Jelly Roll, who was named in early February as the first artist-in-residence in “American Idol” history. He was a guest mentor during 2024’s Hawaii Week, but is now present for many more episodes in his new role, according to ABC.

Jelly Roll has also been on a health journey lately — but no word yet on whether it’s inspired him to cook his on-the-road meals in his bathroom.
