Fans Defend Mariah Carey After Concerning Videos From Her Las Vegas Shows Go Viral

The Lambs have spoken! Many in Mariah Carey’s global legion of fans, whom she has affectionately called her “Lambs” for decades, are sticking up for the legendary singer and former “American Idol” judge after videos from recent performances went viral for all the wrong reasons.

In early February 2025, social media users began raising concerns about videos circulating of Carey, 55, during her eight-night “Celebration of Mimi” residency at MGM Park’s Dolby Live in Las Vegas. By February 11, media outlets began picking up on the viral videos and reporting on viewers’ concerns about Carey looking stiff, uncomfortable and “moving like she is 85.”

But many of Carey’s loyal fans have come to the singer’s defense, pointing out her award-winning track record and that she’s still able to hit her notes on challenging tunes.

Viral Video of Mariah Carey Draws Thousands of Comments From Stunned Viewers

One widely-shared fan video, seen above, shows Carey slowly moving across the stage singing her 1995 hit “Fantasy” while her high-energy backup dancers perform behind her. Over 6,000 viewers have commented on the video, with many stunned by the five-time Grammy winner’s lack of energy.

“She is giving me that auntie who sits at the barbecue and orders young people to bring her food,” one wrote, drawing hundreds of likes.

More than 2,000 people liked a comment that said, “She looks medicated,” and even more hit the “like” button when someone wrote, “Girl, just grab a stool and take a damn seat!”

Some fans reported that the video of Carey reflected what they witnessed at other recent concerts, including one who wrote, “this is on par for what her Christmas show was like… waking very slowly, left stage multiple times and appeared to have teleprompters with all of her lyrics in front of her that she stared at most of the concert. We were disappointed!”

Another who saw her residency concert days before commented, “Went to see her 2/8 in Vegas. Save ya money babies. This was the WORST concert I’ve been to in a long time. I want my money back 😤😩”

Others expressed concern for Carey, asking if she is okay, in pain, or if she simply needs to change out of her high heels.

“She is petrified to walk in those heels,” someone wrote. “Maybe it’s time for her to start wearing flats”

Loyal ‘Lambs’ Defend Mariah Carey’s Performances

While Carey has attracted lots of unflattering buzz about the videos that have gone viral, many members of her “Lambily” have rushed to her defense and lashed out at “haters” in the comment sections of various posts.

On the Instagram video of her singing “Fantasy,” one fan defended the songstress by writing, “NO Mariah disrespect tolerated . She’s a SINGER. A VOCALIST. An ICON. She EARNED her cemented place in history by her talent and hard work. It’s insane that a society believes you have to keep running yourself into the ground when you’ve [already] out worked and out performed 90% of the people in your field.”

Another chirped, “I see nobody in the comments here that has a five octave vocal range 19 number one hits and consecutive awards.”

Another fan lamented, “These comments are so ugly!! You People have such ugly envious jealous hearts The hate just burns inside Them. I have looked at these People and Honey Y’all go and look at these People and You will know exactly why They are the way They are! Sad lives is facts about these Haters!!

On a video from her residency concert on February 7, multiple loyal fans said her stage presence was improving, including one who wrote, “Wowwww!!! Her chest voice has gotten so much stronger!!! And her notes are transitioning so much smoother!! Her confidence is THERE!!! THAT MIC WAS ONNNN!!!”

Another fan tweeted a video taken on January 31 of Carey singing “Vision of Love” flawlessly that’s been viewed nearly 38,000 times and wrote, “The Queen, @MariahCarey takes the stage for the 3rd leg of her Las Vegas residency, #TheCelebrationOfMimi”

Carey has three more residency concerts scheduled on February 12, 14 and 15.
