Luke Bryan made history in Fort Myers, Florida this week, and he brought “American Idol” winner Iam Tongi along for the ride. The country star became the first major musical act to take the stage on Fenway South, the baseball field where the Boston Red Sox host their spring training. “Do you realize this is the first-ever concert in this place?” Bryan asked the crowd, as News-Press shared. “I have the attendance record tonight,” he quipped.
The “Idol” judge reunited with Season 21 winner Tongi during the show, with the former contestant serving as one of Bryan’s opening acts. Tongi was a last-minute addition to the line-up, replacing Conner Smith. In addition to Tongi, Ashland Craft and Adrien Nunez performed for the packed house of adoring fans.
Tongi Showed His Appreciation on Social Media

Opening for Bryan at this event was a huge opportunity, and Tongi showed his appreciation publicly on social media. “What a great time this was!” Tongi wrote in a thank-you TikTok post. The video features shots of the venue, Tongi performing his set, and even a fun clip of Bryan and all of his opening acts singing together.
Fans took to the comments section to show their support for Tongi, who has truly come a long way since his 2023 win. “You truly deserve this and so much more. Love all you do!” one fan wrote. “I was at this concert and it was amazing,” another said. The concert was excellent timing for the “Idol” alum, who officially released his new single, “Unbreak My Heart,” this week.
Bryan Had an Emotional Reaction to The Hawaiian Singer’s Audition

The Fort Myers concert was a full-circle moment for the two performers, given their shared “American Idol” experience. When Tongi first auditioned, Bryan was moved to tears by the emotional story of how he lost his father. “I cannot handle your heart breaking about your dad,” Bryan said in a Tiktok video from the audition.
As fans may remember, the “One Margarita” singer had a personal connection to this type of loss. “My nephew lost his dad,” Bryan said in the clip. After explaining that knowing Tongi was mourning his father hit close to home, the country star gave him some great news. “Gosh man, you just got a great voice,” he said, lightening the mood slightly. “You just did everything perfect, and I love ya.” The love clearly continued at the Florida show, where Bryan playfully hip-bumped Tongi while singing beside him.
