Luke Bryan and Carrie Underwood had fun chemistry at the “American Idol” judges’ table in Season 23. As it turns out, this may partially be due to their long-standing acquaintanceship off-screen. In a recent interview with Taste of Country Nights, Bryan shared some details about their bond. In particular, he revealed that he owes Underwood’s son, Jacob, a very special surprise.
“[Underwood’s] youngest son loves to fish, so me and Mike [Fisher] owe him a fishing trip as soon as it’ll cool off a little bit in Nashville,” Bryan said, as The Boot reported. The “Country Song Came On” singer anticipated having a great time on this trip once the weather was more cooperative. “We’re gonna have fun with all of that, and I love taking the kids fishing, so maybe I got a little cool points,” he said.
Bryan Admits to Spending More Time With Fisher Than Underwood

Although Bryan and Underwood have crossed paths many times since becoming famous, the singer says he spends more time with her husband. “Carrie and I, aside from just saying hey and doing a couple of songs together on stage, we’ve never really got to hang out and visit in-depth,” he admitted. Instead, Bryan’s interactions with Underwood’s family typically involve fishing and hunting trips with Fisher.
However, sharing the “American Idol” judges’ table gave him a chance to learn a little more about his fellow country star. “I really appreciate her as a human being and an artist and a mother,” he said. They may not be the best of friends yet, but the two sets of spouses have been spotted together several times over the years. For instance, Bryan and his wife, Caroline Boyer, posed for photos alongside Underwood and Fisher at the 2014 American Country Countdown Awards.
The Pair Are Likely Headed Back to The Judges’ Table

As Newsweek reported in early August, Bryan and Underwood seem poised to return for “American Idol” Season 24, giving them more opportunities to build on their friendship. The new season premieres in 2026, although ABC hasn’t announced a specific release date as of this publication.
In the meantime. Bryan is busy touring. As he wraps up his “Country Song Came On” tour, he’ll also embark on his annual Farm Tour in September. Currently, his last scheduled performance for 2025 will take place on October 4. Fans can catch him at the Country Calling Festival in Ocean City, Maryland.
