On the first night, Clarkson sang Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You” and night two, she sang Maneskin’s version of Frankie Vallie & the Four Seasons’ “Beggin.”
Parton put in a special request for her song, commenting on one of Clarkson’s Instagram posts in June: “Hey Kelly, I think you should sing ‘I Will Always Love You’ because I think you do one of the best versions of that song that I have ever heard … Whitney and I would both be proud …”
During the encore, Clarkson shared, “Here’s the thing. This is how much I love Dolly Parton because when Dolly Parton asks you to sing something, you just shut your mouth and do it. And I love Whitney Houston as well. She’s one of my biggest influences.”
Clarkson Shared Highlights From ‘Magical’ Show
Clarkson was forced to cancel her planned July 4 and July 5 shows due to vocal issues, something she apologized for at her July 11 concert.
“It took us a minute. It took me a minute. I’m so sorry. I know some of y’all had [tickets for] last weekend’s shows. I’m so sorry,” she told the audience. “We can’t help our bodies sometimes. You know, we get sick, and that happens.”
The “American Idol” alum continued, “But thank you all so much for showing up. We’re so excited.”
Clarkson added, “This is my favorite residency, my favorite show I’ve ever put together, because I love being in the studio, and that’s where this whole idea came from.”
She explained, “There’s nothing like getting in a studio with a bunch of musicians and just vibing with each other. It’s just kind of electric. You know, you’re feeding off of everyone’s emotional state, wherever they are that day. It’s just really cool.”
On July 12, Clarkson took to Instagram to share some photos from her concert. “Thank you so much for such a magical first night! I’m still on such a high from all the fans!” she wrote in the caption. “I had so much fun 🤩 Let’s do it again tonight!”
