Kelly Clarkson fans are missing one of the most beloved parts of her self-titled syndicated talk show.
The “American Idol” alum was absent from “The Kelly Clarkson Show” on March 10, and some fans zeroed in on a missed opportunity when she didn’t appear on the episode with special guest, music legend Smokey Robinson.
Fans Missed Out on a Kelly Clarkson/Smokey Robinson Moment
Amid Clarkson’s absence, Brooke Shields served as a guest host on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” on Monday, March 10. She took the stage to introduce Robinson with, “He’s one of the most talented, most accomplished singer-songwriters ever. Not to mention the most beautiful eyes in music. Now we have a treat because instead of doing Kellyoke today, in his honor, this is the show’s first ever Smokey-oke.”
Robinson then performed a smooth rendition of the song “Be Thankful For What You’ve Got” from his latest “What The World Needs Now.”
While fans raved over the legendary singer’s performance, many missed Clarkson, known for her signature Kellyoke segments in which she covers famous songs at the beginning of each show. Fans reacted on Instagram.
“Too bad Kelly missed him. They would have sounded great together in a duet,” one fan wrote.
“Missing Kelly,” another agreed.
“Where is Kelly? Is she Ok?!” another fan asked.
“When you are not hosting something perfect is missing from your awesome show,” another commenter wrote to Clarkson.
Kelly Clarkson Will Be Out All Week
“The Kelly Clarkson Show” has been on the air for six seasons. In the past, Clarkson performed songs by music superstars such as P!nk and Alanis Morissette alongside them when they were guests on her show.
She told WTHR in an interview that she was most surprised to perform a song with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. “It was just so amazing,” she shared. “He was like, ‘Hey, you want to sing a song?’ I was like, ‘Hell yeah, I want to sing a song. What do you want to sing?’ It was just so fun to learn about him musically, even the country side to him that he loves country music. That was one that stands out to me because it was unexpected.”
Clarkson has missed hosting multiple episodes of her talk show over the past several weeks—with no explanation. And fans won’t see any Kellyoke segments again this week. According to Hello magazine, the talk show queen will be out every day through at least March 14.
In addition to Shields hosting the first two episodes of the week, “Sunday Today” anchor Willie Geist will be taking the reins on Wednesday, while model/actress Molly Sims will host the final two episodes of the week of March 10.
