Kelly Clarkson returned to hosting her talk show on March 18 after a number of guest hosts filled in for her during an extended absence. The “American Idol” alum was reportedly dealing with a “personal matter.”
Kelly Clarkson Returns to ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’
On March 18, Clarkson was back as the host of “The Kelly Clarkson Show.” She didn’t address the reason for her absence, which started on March 3 when actor Simu Liu stepped in at the last minute to cover for her.
Clarkson returned on March 4 and 5 to tape the show but again missed some more days. Celebrity guest hosts took over for the singer, who didn’t reveal why she was taking a break.
According to a March 12 TMZ report, sources told the outlet that Clarkson was “completely fine.” They noted she “has been dealing with a personal matter that does not directly involve her.”
TMZ also reported that Clarkson planned a return to the studio on March 13 to tape upcoming episodes. Her March 18 show featured guests Adam Scott and Marc Rebillet.
Fans were thrilled by her return, as evidenced in the comment sections of clips posted on the show’s Instagram account. “She is finally back!” one fan excitedly declared. Another noted, “Hope she’s back for good.” One fan shared, “So glad she’s back. I just love her.”
Others welcomed her back with kind messages, including, “So glad Kelly is back cause she is amazing.”
Some Big Name Celebs Filled in for Kelly Clarkson
While she was out, some celebrities took over hosting duties for Clarkson. Liu told the audience, “Kelly actually isn’t able to make it today. We are sending her our very best, and here’s the thing: I did not know that I was doing this until about five minutes ago when I arrived here to promote my new movie, ‘Last Breath.'”
Comedian Roy Wood Jr. hosted on March 6, actress Wanda Sykes and singer Josh Groban were co-hosts for the March 7 episode.
On March 10 and March 11, Brooke Shields hosted “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” noting it was “so nice” to fill in. “Today” show’s Willie Geist served as guest host on March 12 and actress Molly Sims hosted on March 13 and 14.
Kal Penn hosted on Monday, March 17. Clarkson will again be out on March 19, with Andy Cohen hosting “The Kelly Clarkson Show” in her absence.
