Kelly Clarkson Sidelined From Talk Show Due to ‘Personal Matter’: Report

Kelly Clarkson fans have been wondering why the “American Idol” alum hasn’t been hosting her talk show. While she hasn’t addressed the reason for her absence from “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” a new report suggests Clarkson was dealing with a “personal matter.”

Report Reveals Why Kelly Clarkson Wasn’t on Her Talk Show

Clarkson missed over a week of shows, but she had some very capable guest hosts step up to take over in her absence.

Why was Clarkson missing from her show? While fans searched for the answer and hoped the daytime talk show host and her family were okay, one report indicates she took a break to handle a personal matter.

According to a March 12 TMZ report, sources told the outlet that Clarkson, who was last on her show for a March 5 taping, is “completely fine.” They noted she “has been dealing with a personal matter that does not directly involve her.”

TMZ also reports that Clarkson planned a return to the studio on March 13 to tape upcoming shows.

Guest Hosts Have Been Filling in on ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’

Clarkson was not able to do the March 3 taping of “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” with actor Simu Liu stepping in at the last minute to fill in. He was scheduled to appear as a guest.

The “American Idol” winner returned to host for two days on March 4 and 5, but then took a longer break, with a number of celebrities doing guest hosting duties. Roy Wood Jr., Wanda Sykes and Josh Groban, Brooke Shields, Willie Geist, and Molly Sims filled in for Clarkson in her absence.

According to a March 13 report from Page Six, actor Kal Penn will host “The Kelly Clarkson Show” on Monday, March 17. Clarkson is scheduled to return on March 18 and will host March 20 and 21, with Andy Cohen hosting on March 19.

None of the guest hosts revealed why Clarkson was absent. Liu briefly shared, “Kelly actually isn’t able to make it today. We are sending her our very best, and here’s the thing: I did not know that I was doing this until about five minutes ago when I arrived here to promote my new movie, ‘Last Breath.'”

On the March 12 episode, “Today” show’s Geist told the audience, “Welcome to ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show.’ I am very much not Kelly Clarkson and I’m sorry for that.”
