Kelly Clarkson Reveals Who She’s Snuggling Up With This Holiday Season

It’s been over four years since singing sensation Kelly Clarkson filed for divorce from her husband of nearly seven years, Brandon Blackstock. But the original “American Idol” winner and former coach on “The Voice” isn’t quite ready to fall in love again, which is a big relief to her kids.

In a new interview, Clarkson said her and Blackstock’s children — daughter River Rose, 10, and son Remington “Remy” Alexander, 8 — will be the sole focus of her adoration for the 2024 holidays. She’s okay with that for now, but she told Los Angeles radio station KOST that her kids have made it clear they don’t ever want her to be with anyone other than their dad.

Kelly Clarkson Says She Loves Hanging With Her ‘Funny’ and ‘Cool’ Kids

Though Clarkson told KOST host Ellen K. that though she doesn’t have her eye on anyone special and isn’t interested in getting involved with anyone yet, she does “hope” to fall in love again.

“I’m enjoying being single,” Clarkson said. “I do that real well. But I was saying to my friend the other day, ‘Am I ever gonna make out with anyone again? That sounds fun.’”

“There’s nothing like that feeling of having someone that you’re so excited to see,” she continued, “(in) the beginning of a relationship. Yeah, that seems pretty fun.”

However, Clarkson said she rarely meets men who just want to have “fun” without getting serious.

“I feel like I’m a magnet for people who are all-in, right off the bat and, like, want to be exclusive,” she told Ellen K. “It’s not that I want to kiss a bunch of people. I just, I am very noncommittal.”

And that’s just the way her kids want it, she told Ellen K, explaining, “My kids, both of them … they constantly bring it up: ‘Please, we don’t want you to be with anybody else.’ They’re young, so it’s hard to picture their mom with someone else other than their dad.”

Clarkson said she’s explained to them that when she’s ready to find romantic love again, “I’m allowed to do that,” adding that she told them, “‘Hey, I love you guys, but Mommy needs loving, too!'”

For now, though, Clarkson said she’s realizing how fast her kids are growing up and said, “I love hanging with my little ones. They’re so funny and they’re so cool, and they’re only going to want me around so long … I want to enjoy it as long as I can.”

Clarkson, whose new holiday tune “You for Christmas” is climbing the charts, moved to New York with her kids in 2023 seeking a “fresh start.” And though she may not have anyone special on her arm, she has fallen in love with the city.

Before her second year hosting the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting, which aired live on NBC on December 3, she said on the November 5 episode of “The Kelly Clarkson Show” how “incredible” the city is during the holidays, Audacy reported.

“The city is so magical,” she told the audience. “I love the holidays in New York. Living here during Christmas is like you’re in a movie. There’s nothing like it in the world, especially the tree lighting ceremony, which is an iconic tradition.”

Clarkson continued, “I got to host it last year, and I thought, ‘Oh, this will be fun…’ Then, the tree lit up, and you would’ve thought, like, I don’t know, I found out I was going to survive something. I bawled. It’s so beautiful when you’re standing there.”
