Pop superstar and actress Jennifer Lopez says she is “still in shock” over losing her beloved friend and celebrity hairstylist Jesus Guerrero, whose family announced his “unexpected” death on February 22, 2025, via a GoFundMe page. Guerrero was with the former “American Idol” judge in Abu Dhabi days before his passing at age 34, according to Page Six.
On February 25, Lopez broke her silence about Guerrero’s death with a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, admitting she’d spent several days trying to “find the words” to share about him.
“It’s no surprise your mother gave you the name Jesus,” she began her tribute. “You were gentle and kind and loving, quiet and unassuming, but so powerful, and your presence was felt the minute you walked into any room. You never demanded the spotlight. You never needed to make a sound to be recognized, your heart and your talent did that as effortlessly as you artistry did.”
Guerrero’s death has been deeply felt by fellow celebrity hair and makeup artists, as well as stars he worked with regularly, including Kylie Jenner.

Lopez posted a black-and-white photo of Guerrero with her online tribute, in which she told her followers, “I’ve been having trouble putting the words together the last few days. The truth is I’m still in shock that such a beautiful young life has come to an end. It seems senseless and unfair.”
Guerrero’s family has not revealed a cause of death because they’re not sure what happened, according to his sister, Gris Guerrero, who told Us Weekly late on February 25, “We have been able to track every one of his steps, but we don’t know what got him sick or what was (the) sickness. It all happened suddenly and no one knows why.”
“I know your family is brokenhearted as am I and everyone else who knew you,” Lopez continued in her tribute. “Your spirit moved on to the next phase beyond this life but I know wherever you are there is beauty and light. And the beauty and light you left here will live on forever. Rest in peace, sweet angel… 💔”
Guerrero’s death has greatly impacted the celebrity stylist community he was part of, and many thanked Lopez for her beautiful tribute in her comment section.
Celebrity nail designer Elle Gerstein wrote, “Heartbroken 💔 so beautifully said @jlo. thank you for bringing us together”
Wardrobe stylist Jay McClain, who hails from Houston like Guerrero, commented, “@jlo thank you, he so deserved his flowers. He came and did some amazing things, he’s now flying high and keeping the angels hair on point. 🤍🤍🤍🤍”
Kylie Jenner Paid Tribute Hours Before Jennifer Lopez & Will Cover Funeral Expenses
Guerrero regularly worked with multiple celebrities who have also expressed their sadness over his death. On February 23, pop star Camila Cabello posted a photo of Guerrero standing in front of the Mona Lisa in Paris and wrote, “shocking day for everyone that knew you. you were a true artist, but most of all, a gentle and sweet energy gone too soon and we will all miss you”
A few hours before Lopez posted her tribute on February 25, “Kardashians” star and billionaire beauty maven Kylie Jenner posted her own photos and a lengthy tribute on social media.
“Jesus was more than my friend,” Jenner wrote, “he was a light in my life, a source of laughter, comfort, love, and unwavering support. I don’t know how I would have made it through the last almost decade without him by my side. He had a way of making even the heaviest days feel lighter.”
Three weeks before his death, on January 31, Guerrero posted a photo of Jenner and wrote, “Paris with my main girly!!! ❤️”
Though Guerrero’s family originally set up a GoFundMe to pay for bringing his body and belongings home to Houston. But on February 25, with the fund at $96,000, they stopped the fundraiser and revealed that Jenner had offered to cover funeral expenses.
“Donations raised through this fundraiser will go toward the costs associated with securing his belongings home,” the family wrote in an update, as well as other unexpected expenses to settle his assets.”
