For young people, a first date can be among the more exciting events they will experience. For parents, it often stirs up a whirlwind of emotions.
Jelly Roll’s teenage daughter, Bailee Ann, went on her first official date on Valentine’s Day. In a video posted to Instagram, her stepmom, Bunnie Xo, displays a mixture of excitement, nervousness, apprehension and mama bear protection instincts.
“She’s going on her first date,” sadly laments after Bailee Ann walked out the door.
The video, titled “Can she stop growing 😭,” opens with the words, “Bailee’s first date 😭 (I’m not ok.)” written across it. Bunnie Xo, emerging from her vehicle, says that after a full day of work, she made sure to be at the house in time to give Bailee Ann some final words of encouragement and advice before seeing her off.
“We had to race home, because we wanted to be here for her before she left,” Bunnie Xo said.
Jelly Roll’s Wife Goes Into Full Mom Mode as Stepdaughter Prepares for First Date
Inside the house, Bunnie Xo gushes as Bailee Ann – the oldest child of the first “artist-in residence” in the history of “American Idol” – walks down the steps in her outfit, a cute red top with casual jeans.
“Do a full spin, girl,” Bunnie Xo exclaims.
She then shows off her stricter mom side, after Bailee Ann announces she’s going on “a little Valentine’s Day dinner date.”
“And that’s it,” Bunnie Xo insists. “That’s it.”
When Bailee Ann asks for money, Bunnie Xo then expresses some uneasiness over how the date may go.
“You’re not paying for dinner, are you?” she asks.
“I hope not, but better safe than sorry,” Bailee Ann cheerfully responds.
“You better not be paying for dinner,” Bunnie Xo stresses. “If you pay for dinner, that’s the last time you’re going on a date with that dude.”
And just before Bailee Ann leaves, Bunnie Xo has some final words of advice, with the duo settling on the code word of “banana” should an emergency arrive.
“Call me if you need me, if you get any weird vibes,” Bunnie Xo says.
“Oh trust me, I will,” Bailee Ann assures her.
Jelly Roll Gushes Confidently Over Path Daughter Bailee Ann Will Follow

As reported by People, Bailee Ann was born when Jelly Roll was in jail at the age of 23. Jelly Roll said he has been open with her about his past troubles, telling People that he’s confident Bailee Ann won’t follow the same path.
“[I said], ‘I don’t judge you based on what you do. I judge you based on what I know you’re capable of,’” he recalled. “‘You’re so much smarter than I was at 16. You’re so much better, so much more emotionally intelligent. You can read a room so much better. So don’t try to talk your way out of getting in trouble, Miss Sassy, by weaponizing my past.’”
