If you’ve ever thought to yourself, “Hmmm, there’s a weird resemblance between Jelly Roll and actor Kevin James,” you are not alone. Take off Jelly Roll’s tattoos and chain, and they could be brothers.
The duo decided to play up the eerie similarity on June 21, when Jelly Roll was playing his set at Ohio’s Buckeye Country Superfest. The crowd went wild when “The King of Queens” star showed up on stage with a guitar, dressed exactly like the country star.
Jelly Roll Surprises His Fans: ‘Is That Kevin James?’
The “American Idol” artist-in-residence was on stage, saying to the audience, “I was thinking, what is the craziest thing that I could do in Ohio,” when he suddenly noticed the extra presence on stage. He walked over to him and then turned to his band and asked, “Who is this guy?” After staring at him harder, he exclaimed, “Is that Kevin James???”
James, dressed identically to Jelly Roll in black pants, a black T-shirt, a black vest, and a backwards black hat, nods and waves at the crowd. “You look like you mean all business right now, you’re trying to do a little rock n’roll music out here, right? You’re not here to play around,” Jelly Roll said to him. James then swapped his guitar for a microphone, and the two launched into “Need a Favor.”
James had Jelly Roll’s hand gestures and movements down as they took to opposite sides of the stage. James seemed to be having the time of his life as he played to the crowd, prancing around the stage and waving his arms in the air.
As the song finished, they hugged, and James could be heard saying, “Love you! Jelly, love you!” Jelly Roll returned the sentiment, telling the crowd that James was “One of the kindest comedians and one of the greatest actors of our generation! Give it up for my friend, Kevin James!”
Jelly Roll Has Teamed Up With Several Unexpected Stars
While James, best known as an actor and comedian, seems like an odd choice for a guest, Jelly Roll has been bringing out a lot of unexpected stars recently. He is currently on tour with Post Malone, which makes it easy for the two to join each other’s sets.
At Stagecoach, he brought out rapper Wiz Khalifa to perform “Black and Yellow,” as well as Lana Del Rey to sing “Save Me.” At his Detroit show in May, he began singing Eminem’s hit song “Lose Yourself,” when Eminem walked out on stage to join him. We wonder who he’ll surprise us with next.
