Talk show host and “American Idol” alum Jennifer Hudson’s jaw hit the floor when Jelly Roll confessed his most embarrassing concert moment during a Q&A segment on “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” airing on April 18, 2025.
Jelly Roll and fellow country star Luke Bryan appeared on the talk show together, promoting season 23 of “American Idol,” where Bryan is in his eighth season as a judge and Jelly Roll is serving as the show’s first-ever “artist-in-residence,” mentoring contestants throughout the season.
Hudson selected a random question from a batch sitting on her set’s coffee table, asking the duo to name “the most embarrassing thing that’s happened to you while performing,” Jelly Roll immediately blurted out, “I pooped myself one time” — and it was clear the “Amen” singer immediately regretted his answer.
Luke Bryan Says Jelly Roll’s Brutal Honesty is ‘Why We Love Him’
Hudson and Bryan could not hide their shock over Jelly Roll’s answer, their mouths both agape as the audience gasped. They then crumpled into laughter as Jelly Roll apologized.
“I’m sorry,” he laughed. “Listen, it was what they call a shart. I didn’t know! I was confident it was all air, it was not. I watched this crowd go from loving me to just being completely out!”
“That’s why we love him, right there,” Bryan said, putting his arm around Jelly Roll.
“I overshared again,” Jelly Roll laughed, covering his face in his hands.
Bryan then quipped, “My problem is I didn’t really get embarrassed about it when I did it!”
As Hudson tried to move on, Jelly Roll asked her, “Are you saying you’ve never pooped yourself?”
“Noooo, noooo! Oh my god, this is hilarious,” she replied, clearly flustered as she searched for another question to ask.
Jelly Roll & Luke Bryan Reveal What Annoys Their Wives About Them

After Hudson found a new question, she asked, “Okay, y’all ready for the next one?” and Jelly Roll hilariously quipped, “No!”
Reading the question, Hudson noted that both men are married and asked what about them drives their wives “absolutely crazy.” Bryan has been married to his college sweetheart, Caroline Boyer Bryan, for nearly 19 years, while Jelly Roll has been married to Alyssa DeFord, known as BunnieXO, since 2016.
At first, Bryan said that his snoring drives his wife crazy. But he later changed his answer to a habit in the kitchen that he said always sends Caroline reeling.
“I gotta go with the simplest thing,” he told Hudson. “If I put the creamer in my coffee, stir the spoon and put the spoon down on the countertop … without a proper paper towel to absorb? It’s worst than snoring, now that I think about it ’cause you can cure the snoring with a CPAP machine.”
“Or less alcohol, but I’m not here to judge,” Jelly Roll laughed.
The “Hard Fought Hallelujah” singer revealed that the thing he does that drives BunnieXO nuts is a habit he’s trying to break.
“I leave a trail of clothes from the front door to the shower,” he admitted as he looked at the audience. “Everybody’s like, ‘We hate you!’ I just heard women shaking their fists at me up there! I know! And I’ve been trying to break this habit, y’all, but it annoys her to no end.”
