Jelly Roll is celebrating a major milestone in his weight loss journey!
The first-ever artist-in-residence on “American Idol,” and huge Tennessee Titans fan gave a motivational message to the team in their locker room, just before they took off on a two week stint of road games.
In that speech, Jelly Roll revealed that he has now lost an incredible 200 pounds.
The moment, captured in a video posted on the Titans’ Instagram account, shows Jelly Roll telling the Titans, “I rep for this team. I can’t get on the field but I’m getting close. I lost 200 pounds, I told the coach, ‘I’m getting a contract if I lose another 50!'” as the team cheered.
In the past, Jelly Roll has revealed that he started his weight loss journey at 540 pounds.
And while he’d like to say he has a super cool strategy for dropping the pounds, Jelly just can’t.
Jelly Roll told Jimmy Kimmel, “I’ve been thinking of ways to make it sound cool, but I can’t. I’m eating a lot of protein, vegetables and walking. That’s what I’m doing.”
Jelly Roll Says He Found Unity on the Road
While Jelly Roll may not be ready to suit up and take the field, he did have some team strategy to share with the Titans as they hit the road.
He told them, “I spend about 300 days not here. Buses, planes, trains, automobiles, walking, you name it, we’ve done it. We’ve slept in vans. And I learned early, that’s where the magic was. Yeah, that’s where the magic was. See, what was happening on that road between me and the boys started translating to the stage.”
Jelly went on, “All that connection we were looking for on the stage that we could never find, cuz we were only trying to find it in that hour, we thought we were going to connect with each other these 60 to 90 minutes and we were going to change the world every night at every little local bar across the world. And then we learned it was the 23 hours that we wasn’t on a stage that we were building our connection.”
Jelly Roll Reveals What Changed His Life
The “Hard Fought Hallelujah” singer told the team, “I started becoming a better songwriter when I started becoming a better husband. I started becoming a better performer when I started becoming a better human.”
He continued, “I started becoming a better son when I started prioritizing my mama’s calls. It’s funny how the heavens started opening up for me just cuz of how I was treating relationships everywhere else.”
Jelly Roll Gets the ‘Marshmello’ Treatment
What made Jelly Roll better in the eyes of his son may be a little different though.
Jelly’s latest collab with Marshmello called “Holy Water” earned him his very own “Jelly Mello” head from the artist. The one-of-a-kind mello head is complete with Jelly’s face tatoos.
In a video on Instagram where Marshmello presents Jelly Roll with the new gear, Jelly wrote. “MY SON FINALLY THINKS I’M COOL!!”
