Fans React to News That Carrie Underwood Will Perform at Trump’s Inauguration

Carrie Underwood is set to perform at Donald Trump’s inauguration on January 20, but not all of her fans are impressed. Reactions are mixed — and many fans didn’t hold back their disappointment about the news.

Fans Reacted to Carrie Underwood’s Inauguration Performance News

On January 13, news broke that country star and “American Idol” winner will sing “America the Beautiful” at the inauguration event in Washington, D.C. Underwood will be joined by the Armed Forces Chorus and the United States Naval Academy Glee Club, singing after J.D. Vance’s Vice Presidential Oath of Office and before Trump’s Presidential Oath of Office.

In a statement to Variety, Underwood shared: “I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event.”

She added, “I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future.”

While the singer has not yet shared the news on social media, fans reacted to the announcement in the comments of Underwood’s most recent Instagram post. “The majority of Americans support you. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸,” one fan wrote.

Another shared, “Yay! So excited for the inauguration and your performance! Proud of you 😍 I’m so excited. Singing for America’s game and now for America.”

Some Fans Expressed Disappointment Over Carrie Underwood’s Inauguration Involvement

Among the kind words of support, there were also fans who expressed how disappointed they were to find out Underwood is performing at the event.

“You lost thousands of fans today. Your decision is harmful to so many communities that trusted you,” one fan commented. “You were my first concert I ever went to, I was a little kid who felt connected with your music and needed to some sort of protection. It’s clear you stand for hatred and judgement 💔.”

Another one of her followers wrote: “As a longtime fan that’s been to all of your concerts, including Vegas, I’m heartbroken at your decision to perform next week. I thought you stood for love & acceptance, not hate & judgement. 💔💔💔”

One follower recalled, “I have fond memories of her ‘American Idol’ audition and my mom picking her to win from the start, then buying her CDs, going to her concerts with my mom. I’m so sad she’s chosen to support this man. 😢”

Others shared their decision to boycott Underwood, with one fan writing: “Just deleted all her music from Spotify and sold the albums I did have. Seriously breaks my heart. It was nice while it lasted.”

Many fans indicated how they felt let down, with comments including, “Incredibly disappointed in you and I’ve been a fan since day one,” “What a massive disappointment,” and “Disappointed isn’t a strong enough word to describe how i feel 😔.”

One follower noted, “I understand wanting to sing at a presidential inauguration, but yuck, it’s no honor to sing for this disaster being sworn in.”

Another fan simply stated, “Carrie, we urge you to pull out of the inauguration.”
