Clay Aiken Opens Up About Dating, Finding a ‘Soulmate’

Clay Aiken is fine being single, according to a new interview he gave to People Magazine.

“I just turned 46, and I have discovered I’m too old to change my ways for anybody. Unless I can find somebody who’s happy to sit on the other end of the couch and not talk for hours at a time, then I’m perfectly fine not having to deal with that,” Aiken said in the December 13, 2024, article.

People noted that Aiken first came out in 2008 on the cover of the magazine. According to People, Aiken, the “American Idol” finalist, has a new holiday album. Aiken is on Instagram, where he has shared an interview he gave about his Christmas music. He has 164,000 followers on the platform. On X, Aiken describes himself as, “Father, singer, actor, & proud 10th generation North Carolinian!”

In the People interview, Aiken chalked up some of his dating hesitance to age.

“You shouldn’t have to change your ways, but we do. When we’re younger, we end up thinking we should… and then as we get older, we realize, ‘I just don’t have the energy for that,'” he told People.

However, Aiken also said in the interview that he wouldn’t be opposed to dating if he met the right person.

Aiken’s new album is called “Christmas Bells Are Ringing.” He told Billboard of the album, “It’s been a while, but it feels like the right time to release this album. The whole world is a mess these days, so I think we could all use a bit more of the kindness and cheer that comes with the holiday season. The holidays have taken on a different meaning for me over these past 15 years as a father. I’m excited to share that Christmas spirit with this album.”

Aiken said he doesn’t want to be around “clubs.”

“If there is a perfect soulmate for me out there, then he is perfectly happy to go for a full 24 hours in the same house, but not having to speak. That’s the dream,” Aiken told People.

He told People he’d like to “go live in a small town” away from “clubs.”

“I just don’t have the energy to do any of it,” he said of clubs and the rest, People reported.

According to People, Aiken is focusing on his 16-year-old son Parker.
