Did Ché Chesterman Make It Through on ‘American Idol’ This Week? 4/28/2025

SPOILER ALERT! Do NOT CONTINUE reading if you do NOT want to whether Ché Chesterman made it into the top 10. For the list of everyone who made it, read our full recap here.

It was a night full of “iconic moments” for “American Idol” fans on April 28, 2025, as the top 12 sang their hearts out, hoping to make the top 10 of season 23. The very first performance of the night came from Ché Chesterman, the dad of two from Essex, England — and the last contestant from outside the U.S. remaining in the competition. Many are wondering if Chesterman made it through to the top 10.

The answer is NO, Chesterman did not receive enough votes during the two-hour show to advance.

Ché Chesterman Got Teary-Eyed Preparing for His Song With Fantasia

The night’s theme was “Iconic Idol Moments,” with season 3 winner Fantasia as the celebrity mentor. Chesterman, 28, chose a song that third-place singer Colin Stough performed in season 21 — Robyn’s “Dancing On My Own.”

Fantasia was stunned by Chesterman’s vocals, and the judges seemed to love his rendition, too. Underwood said she loved how he made a well-known pop song his own, and Luke Bryan said he’s clearly “turned the intensity up” on his performances. After getting their feedback, Chesterman teared up talking about how his fiancée and kids had to fly back home that day.

In the end, Chesterman was one of two singers who didn’t get enough votes. Though he clearly hoped to move ahead, getting to return home to his girls will likely be a priceless consolation prize.
