Breanna Nix Gets Huge Career News After ‘American Idol’ Finale: ‘On My Bucket List’

Days after placing third on season 23 of “American Idol,” 25-year-old Texas mom Breanna Nix is pinching herself over the latest milestone in her blossoming music career.

On May 22, 2025, Nix wrote on social media that she was “beyond overjoyed to announce” that she will get to make her Grand Ole Opry debut on June 5.

“This moment has been on my bucket list for years,” Nix wrote, “and getting to finally check it off feels surreal.😭 I’m so grateful for this opportunity and can’t wait to step into that circle. Hope to see y’all there!❤️✨”

Breanna Nix Will Likely Get to Duet Again With Brandon Lake

The Grand Ole Opry is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2025, with each live show it stages honoring country music stars of the past, present, and future. Multiple artists perform at each show, including one or more Opry members — stars who were hand-selected to be part of the historic venue’s elite “family” of artists.

At the June 5 show Nix has been invited to perform at, she’ll be surrounded by stars, including Opry members Steven Curtis Chapman and Sara Evans. Chart-topping Contemporary Christian artist Brandon Lake — who appeared three times on “American Idol” during season 23 — will also perform, as will rising country star Kameron Marlowe.

“American Idol” friends were among those who flocked to Nix’s post to share their excitement about her Opry debut, including top 14 finalist and close friend Amanda Barise, who wrote, “SO PROUD OF YOU SIS 👏👏👏👏”

Top 5 finalist Thunderstorm Artis commented, “Amazing congratulations” and season 21

Fans chimed in, too, including one who wrote, “Congrats Breanna!!! One of the biggest dreams of any country musician to play the Opry, and I just know you’ll nail it!!”

Breanna Nix is Flying High After ‘American Idol’ Finale

It’s been a pretty incredible few days for Nix since the “American Idol” finale on May 18. After learning she’d placed third, she got to return to the stage to sing a duet with Lake, one of her musical idols. Given that they’re appearing on the same night at the Grand Ole Opry, there’s a pretty good chance they’ll team up again.

Posting some photos from their performance on social media, Nix wrote, “I’ve looked up to Brandon Lake for years, and for this to come true feels absolutely surreal! He was on my list of dream duets, and I’m just in awe.”

“Thank you, God, for this moment,” she continued. “Brandon is one of the most genuine people I’ve ever met—and his entire team radiates that same heart. I honestly feel like I could be best friends with his wife—she’s so sweet and hilarious! Love them both so much. To God be all the glory!”

The day after the “American Idol” finale, on May 19, Nix was riding high again as her first-ever single, “Higher,” topped the iTunes country chart. And on May 23, she shared that she’s among the “American Idol” finalists who will perform at 19 Recording’s showcase during CMAFest in Nashville.

The June 4th lineup includes winner Jamal Roberts, runner-up John Foster, Artis, Gabby Samone, Kolbi Jordan, and “Idol” stars from past seasons, too.
