Baylee Littrell Praises His Dad’s Latest Backstreet Boys Performances

“American Idol” season 23 contestant Baylee Littrell got a lot of support from his famous dad, Backstreet Boys founding member Brian Littrell, during his time on the show. Now Baylee is sharing his love for his dad’s music and praising the Backstreet Boys’ Into the Millennium residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas.

“My dad’s accomplished a lot of amazing things in his career, and this has to be one of the greatest,” he shared in a joint Instagram post with Music Mayhem Magazine. “I’ve grown up watching them and this is my favorite show they’ve ever done,” Baylee said.

The “Idol” alum didn’t hold back when it came to sharing his pride, and he told his dad something very sweet. “… I said, ‘dude, if I wasn’t your son I would still be a huge fan of the Backstreet Boys,'” he revealed. “… when they perform … you’re excited no matter what. You get this thrill.”

The Most Emotional Part of the Show

There is a special moment in the Backstreet Boys’ performance when they sing “The Perfect Fan.” During the song, family photos from each of the groups’ members appear larger than life around the Sphere.

It’s a moment that never fails to make Baylee emotional. “First time I saw that I cried,” he admitted. “Seeing my grandma up there was like the big kicker, so that’s the one that makes me sad.”

But the prevailing emotion of the Into the Millennium Vegas residency has been joy. Baylee revealed that his dad was truly enjoying performing in a way he never had before.

“… he’s like, ‘man, I didn’t get to enjoy this the first time it came out … I was working non-stop, we were just worried about the next album already … now I enjoy every second of this,'” the singer said.

He added that the whole group, which also includes Nick Carter, AJ McLean, Kevin Richardson, and Howie Dorough, are having the best time. “This time around they’re super happy.”

The Backstreet Boys Have Shown Support for Baylee Littrell

Naturally, when Baylee Littrell appeared on “American Idol,” his dad was extremely supportive. “He’s super professional. He’s just a great individual,” Brian Littrell told Parade. “He’s just a great person. He has a heart of gold, and he’s super talented.”

Baylee made it to the top 20 before being eliminated on the show, but his musical journey is just getting started. In June he dropped his debut single “Hey Jesus” and this summer he has multiple tour dates lined up.

And Brian Littrell is not the only Backstreet Boy to show Baylee his support. Earlier this month, AJ McLean spoke about how impressed he was with Baylee’s music, telling Us Weekly, “I mean, he’s just beyond talented.”
