‘AGT’ Judge Howie Mandel to Host Iconic Game Show in 2026

Howie Mandel has added another job to his long TV resumé. Before he became a beloved judge on “America’s Got Talent” (AGT) in 2010, Mandel hosted the hit game show “Deal or No Deal” — and now he’s ready to take the reins at another iconic game show.

Mandel will host the Canadian version of “The Price is Right” in 2026, according to the St. Albert Gazette, on the same network where he’s also been a judge on “Canada’s Got Talent” — although the future of that show and his role on it is currently up in the air.

Citytv Plans to ‘Canadianize’ Howie Mandel’s Version of ‘The Price is Right’

In the U.S., comedian Drew Carey took over for Bob Barker, who retired in 2007 after hosting “The Price is Right” for 35 years. In Canada, broadcast company Rogers plans to “reimagine” the long-running daytime game show as an evening series called “The Price is Right Tonight,” airing on Citytv.

Mandel has been a judge on Citytv’s “Canada’s Got Talent” since 2022, per Deadline. The latest season ended in May, just before the 20th season of “AGT” premiered on NBC. It airs throughout the summer of 2025, with live shows in August.

Mandel, who was born and raised in Toronto, will film “The Price is Right Tonight” in in his hometown starting in December, per the St. Albert Gazette.

Katie Stockwell, head of original programming for Rogers, told the outlet, “It’s important to us when we take on a format that there’s a reason to Canadianize it and I think for ‘Price is Right,’ there were a lot of reasons that it made sense.”

“I love that idea that any Canadian can be picked out of the audience and brought on stage,” she continued. “I think that is so fun and maybe it’s missing from other game show formats. So we thought the opportunity to engage the audience directly was really important.”

She also told the outlet that “Canada’s Got Talent” is on hiatus for the next year, with its future up in the air.

Howie Mandel Began Hosting ‘Deal or No Deal’ in 2006

In a promotional video Mandel filmed to announce his role, he said, “When Citytv asked me to be the host of one of the most iconic game shows I said, ‘What’s your highest bid?'”

Cross referencing his old show, “Deal or No Deal,” he joked, “They said, ‘$1.’ I said, ‘You throw in a dinette set, you got a deal.'”

After NBC’s “Deal or No Deal” ended in 2009 after four seasons on the network, Mandel continued to host a version that aired in syndication for another two years. NBC revived the show in 2018 for one prime-time season.

Then, in 2024, it launched “Deal or No Deal Island,” hosted by Joe Manganiello. In a surprise ending, Mandel was revealed in the season finale as the mysterious banker. He did not return for the second season, however; Chrissy Teigen was the mystery banker in early 2025.
