“America’s Got Talent” is returning for Season 20, and there is already excitement ahead of its premiere on Tuesday, May 27, at 8 p.m. ET on NBC. The long-running show recently teased a first look at the upcoming season, including a Golden Buzzer act, and the inclusion of a new judge. This is everything we know about Season 20 and what fans can expect!
A First Look at ‘America’s Got Talent’ Golden Buzzer Act
Melanie Brown, better known as Mel B, is replacing Heidi Klum as a judge on “America’s Got Talent.” A video of Mel B’s first Golden Buzzer act was shared on Instagram on May 23, and the short clip shows two men in their underwear juggling and throwing knives.
It’s an impressive act, made even more entertaining by the fact that they remove items of clothing as they go until they get down to their American flag swimsuits… or is it underwear? Their act continues, but they start putting their clothing back on, ending up in suits. The judges and the audience are going crazy, and in the clip, Brown tells the contestants, “I think you’re perfect,” and she presses down the Golden Buzzer.
The post’s caption reveals why they shared the first look early. “To celebrate our 20th anniversary, we’re sharing Mel B’s first Golden Buzzer of the season early,” the caption reads. “#AGT premieres Tues 8/7c | @nbc and @peacock.” Reactions to the post include, “MEL B IS BACK?!?! AND SOFIA IS STAYING?!?! omg I’m definitely going to have to watch this season,” “whattt a golden buzzer early,” and “INCREDIBLE PERFORMANCE.”
What Do We Know About ‘America’s Got Talent’ Season 20?
Social media has proven to be a great source of information, and another teaser for the season was shared on Instagram on May 23. It shows the inside of the theater where hopefuls will perform and the lines of people waiting their turn for their chance in front of the judges. Speaking of judges: Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, and Sofía Vergara will return as judges, and, as previously mentioned, the fourth spot will be held by former Spice Girl, Mel B.
This means fans will bid farewell to longtime judge, Heidi Klum, who is leaving the show after initially joining in 2013 for Season 8 (she only took a break for Season 14). Terry Crews will return as the host, and the prize money of $1 million will remain the same.
USA Today reports that the show will maintain a Tuesday time slot and initially start with taped recordings until the live shows begin around August. Those who cannot watch on NBC can stream the day after on Peacock.
